Birdie Squad Wraps Up First Season
Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort is celebrating the success of its inaugural Birdie Squad junior program, which wrapped up this week after a strong 20-week season.
Launched in late 2024, Birdie Squad was created as a fun, structured pathway to introduce golf to children aged 7–12 in a safe and supportive environment. Over the course of the program, more than 60 new junior golfers took their first steps onto the fairways, learning the fundamentals of the game while building confidence and new friendships.
The program, led by PGA Professional Sandy Jamieson, featured weekly on-course sessions, skill development, and a unique coloured wristband system to reward progress. Each child finished the season with a personalised certificate and a celebration BBQ to recognise their efforts and improvement.
Birdie Squad also received incredible support from a dedicated group of volunteers who gave their time generously each week. A special mention goes to Bob Krugar, who attended every single session and became a much-loved fixture out on the course.
“We couldn’t be happier with the way the first season went,” said Birdie Squad Coordinator, Rob Alexander. “It’s been so rewarding watching the kids grow and gain confidence. The support from families, volunteers, and of course Sandy has been amazing. This is just the beginning—we’re already planning to build on the program later in the year.”
Birdie Squad is proudly supported by Rich Glen, and will return in 2025 with fresh sessions and new opportunities for young players.
Details on winter coaching clinics and next season’s intake will be available soon via the club’s website and social media.
